The Baltimore and Washington corridor is a humid, heat island suburban belt. And the Eastern Shore and the whole Chesapeake rim is flat, low, and surrounded by water, which means humidity that never really breaks from June through September. Where you sit on that spread should drive what you order.
Water on three sides does what water always does. Overnight relative humidity on the Shore and around the bay commonly sits at or near saturation from July onward, and morning dew soaks a canopy every day. Combine that with September and October rain from the tail end of tropical systems tracking up the coast, and dense outdoor flower is exposed. Bud rot here is not bad luck, it is the default outcome unless you plan around it. Open structure, wide spacing, ruthless removal of the lower third, and finishing early are the tools that actually work.
Central Maryland gives around 180 to 200 frost free days with about 14 hours 55 minutes of daylight at the June peak, which is a comfortable outdoor window. Summer heat in the corridor regularly runs into the mid 90s with high dew points, and that combination is harder on plants than dry heat at the same temperature because they cannot transpire their way out of it. Afternoon shade in July is a real advantage for container plants.
Water varies a lot. Piedmont and Baltimore area supplies tend to be moderately hard; Eastern Shore wells are often shallower, sometimes iron heavy, and occasionally brackish close to the bay. Iron will stain and can foul drip emitters. A basic test tells you whether to filter, and it costs less than one wasted run.
