Minnesota sits far enough north that daylight, not temperature, sets the shape of an outdoor season. Around the solstice the Twin Cities see roughly fifteen and a half hours of light, and up toward the Iron Range it is longer still. Plants stay in vegetative growth late because of it, then flip fast in August when the day length falls off a cliff. The result is a compressed flowering window that ends when the first hard frost arrives, which in much of the state is a September event rather than an October one.
Practically, that means two things. Get plants out as soon as nights hold above the mid forties, usually late May or early June, and do not choose anything that needs a long finish. A cut that runs nine weeks inside can easily need eleven outdoors in cool weather, and you may not have eleven.
Southern Minnesota summers are hot and genuinely humid, closer to Iowa than to Duluth. Corn sweat and dew points in the seventies push mould pressure hard through July and August. The northern half is cooler and drier but gives back weeks of season. Whichever half you are in, the risk is the same at the end: warm damp days followed by cold nights is how bud rot starts. Spacing, defoliation and airflow do more here than any product you can spray on.
Half the year in Minnesota is indoor season, and the cold is an advantage as much as a cost. Rooms hold temperature easily under lights, but the air gets extremely dry once furnaces run, and clones transplanted into a January room can crisp up before roots take hold. Give new arrivals a humidity dome or a covered tray for the first few days and go easy on the light intensity. Winter is also when to run the material outdoor cannot handle, so this is the place for Gas and OG, Dessert and Candy and the denser Nighttime Indicas.
We only ship Monday through Wednesday. That is deliberate. A package that misses a connection on a Thursday sits in a depot until the following week, and no rooted clone survives that well. Minnesota is a middle distance run for us, so transit time is worth thinking about. Order early in the week and in extreme heat or a cold snap ask us about timing before you check out.
